Curio

A thousand games and nothing to play. Fixed.

What it does

Most recommenders guess from genres. Curio reads what you actually wrote. You journal games as you go — after the first evening, forty hours in, or the moment one loses you — and every entry carries your real Steam playtime, so you see how an opinion moved, not just where it landed. That builds a taste profile which sorts your unplayed library into tiers, each pick linked back to your own words. Free, MIT-licensed, self-hostable. Bring your own Gemini/Claude/OpenAI key.

Curio reads the reviews you wrote and sorts the unplayed half of your Steam library into tiers, explaining why each game is for you. Not by genre, not by other people

You write down what a game left you with — Curio reads it and works out your taste from it: what you praise, what makes you quit, what you drop an hour in. Then it sorts the unplayed into tiers and says why each one is for you. Not by genre, not by other people's scores. Free. Gemini, Claude or GPT — a key takes a minute to get from the provider and goes into settings. Requests go out in your name: this service pays for none of them and keeps no key of its own. Whatever you wrote on Steam game pages comes over with one button, the rest you write by hand. 4 reviews are enough for a first breakdown; by 10 it turns confident. The model reads everything you've written, puts your taste into…from curio.klch.dev

Hey everyone, I'm Fabio, a very long time lurker here. Today I want to celebrate and share with you, again, a game that I conceived more than 8 years ago. I shared it last week with all its history (if you're curious) [1], but it just stayed in the "shownew" and never reached the main "show" page, hopefully this time it'll do better (:crossed_fingers:)! What changed since last week? Today I've also published the mobile apps for both iOS and Android (last week it was just web), which are also my first mobile apps ever. So I believe it's still a worthwhile post and something to show :) I'd…

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…

  • I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
