I made a GPT-3 thing to help me make better hackathon projects

A bot to help anybody come up with better ideas using GPT-3.

I made a GPT-3 thing to help me make better hackathon projects launched on June 15, 2022 with 5 votes, #1,255 of 3,005 launches that month and more than 50% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 4 years on.

What it does

1. Send a message to the bot explaining your idea. 2. The bot will ask questions meant to challenge you idea and in turn make it better. This process is often done with another person, who would ask targeted questions like: "How would you make that idea better in X way?" We're using GPT-3 to ask contextual questions about your idea. For example, if you say "I want to build a video streaming platform for dogs." A good "Yes and...?" message from the bot may be, "How will you handle the video hosting?" or "What would the videos be about specifically?" Another good question, is "How will this project increase Human Agencyfrom yesandbot.com

gpt-engineer – platform for devs to tinker with AI programming tools2023 · ▲178

Hello Hacker News community, Wanted to share a project I started working on during my spare time and was then discovered by many in the open source community last week. GPT Engineer’s mission: Be the open platform for devs to tinker with and build their personal code-generation toolbox. I believe it's key for us devs to engage in how building software can and will change. You can find more info about the flexible technical "philosophy" to make it work well, and the community we want it to become on github: https://github.com/AntonOsika/gpt-engineer The project is still in…

    Build a discord/Slack bot to answer questions with your docs and GPT42023 · windmill.dev · ▲144

It works on top of the open-source workflow engine windmill [1] that you can easily self-host on a tiny server or a large k8s cluster. You will also need pgvector (here hosted on supabase) and of course a GPT4 api key. It showcases an approval step so that you only provide answers you are confident giving to your users, which feels less robotic. All the building blocks are scripts that you can reuse outside of windmill and you could build this in any other workflow engines (although less conveniently). We use it for our own needs on discord [2] and thoughts this was a common need for any…

OP here, this was super fun to build. It all started from playing around with Nat Friedman's GPT browser https://twitter.com/0xferruccio/status/1599014988693180417 Then after having this running for our product for a couple of days or so we decided to give 10 customers access and they loved it! So expanding access now feels great :)

I've seen some interests in (simulation) video games here on HN so I thought I'd share a short version of our story. More than 6 years ago, me and my friend from university were playing around with an idea of making a game we always wanted to play. We worked on it on weekends but the progress was quite slow, especially due to so many dead ends and wasted effort. Eventually however, we solidified our direction and decided to take the risk to resign from our well paid SWE jobs and work on it full time. It took more than a year but yesterday we have finally released it on Steam:…
