MarkovJunior, PPL based on pattern matching and constraint propagation

In plain words

MarkovJunior is a procedural pattern language based on pattern matching and constraint propagation. It generates complex structures by applying rules that match and transform patterns iteratively. The tool is designed for developers and creators interested in procedural generation and computational design. It stands out for its constraint-based approach, which allows users to specify what outputs should look like rather than how to create them step-by-step.

Synthesize TikZ Graphics Programs for Scientific Figures and Sketches2024 · github.com · ▲132

Creating high-quality scientific figures can be time-consuming and challenging, even though sketching ideas on paper is relatively easy. Furthermore, recreating existing figures that are not stored in formats preserving semantic information is equally complex. To tackle this problem, we introduce DeTikZify, a novel multimodal language model that automatically synthesizes scientific figures as semantics-preserving TikZ graphics programs based on sketches and existing figures. We also introduce a Monte Carlo Tree Search-based inference algorithm that enables DeTikZify to iteratively refine its…

A friend and I spent 6 years making a simulation game, finally released▲1,157

I've seen some interests in (simulation) video games here on HN so I thought I'd share a short version of our story. More than 6 years ago, me and my friend from university were playing around with an idea of making a game we always wanted to play. We worked on it on weekends but the progress was quite slow, especially due to so many dead ends and wasted effort. Eventually however, we solidified our direction and decided to take the risk to resign from our well paid SWE jobs and work on it full time. It took more than a year but yesterday we have finally released it on Steam:…
