Synaps Media – Managed Ghost CMS Hosting
Hi HN, I’m Murat, a software engineer based in the Netherlands, and I’ve been building Synaps Media, a fully managed hosting service for Ghost CMS. I love Ghost as a publishing platform, but I found self-hosting frustrating, managing updates, security, backups, and performance optimizations is time-consuming. Official Ghost(Pro) hosting is great but might be overkill for some users. I wanted to create an alternative that’s simpler and more affordable, especially for independent creators and small teams. What Synaps Media Offers * Managed Ghost hosting with no technical setup required * No hard limits on content, visitors, or members (except 2,000 newsletter emails/month) * Multi-site management for freelancers & agencies * Built-in CDN (Bunny.net), SSL, automatic updates, daily backups * €4/month (€48/year) pricing, with a 14-day free trial * Upcoming domain management & email services Why I Built This I started Synaps Media in early 2024 as a side project and launched privately with a small group of early adopters. It’s now hosting 30+ Ghost publications, and I’ve been refining it based on user feedback. My goal is to make Ghost hosting as accessible as possible, whether you’re an independent writer, a business, or an agency managing multiple sites. Thoughts & Feedback? If you’ve ever self-hosted Ghost or used a managed hosting service, I’d love to hear about your experience. What worked well? What didn’t? You can try it free (no payment required) here: https://panel.synapsmedia.com/register Let me know what you think!

Dear HN community, we are happy to announce the release of MediaCMS on Github! It is a modern CMS built in Django/PostgreSQL/React and a REST API, released under AGPL license. MediaCMS handles the life cycle of media files and is deal for those who want to build online communities around media file sharing, for informational, educational or entertainment purposes. As stated on our page on Github, we have three goals for MediaCMS: a) deliver all functionality one would expect from a modern system, b) allow for easy installation and maintenance, c) allow easy customization and…

Hi HN, I built Eigendrum, a web tool that solves the 2D wave equation for arbitrary shapes so you can hear what they sound like as drums. How it works: * Solves -∇²u = λu using finite element analysis (Kφ = λMφ) on a triangle mesh. * Validated to <0.1% error against closed-form solutions for circles (Bessel zeros) and rectangles. * Sound model factors in strike location, Rayleigh damping, and mallet width. * Includes Kac drums I & II to demonstrate identical sound spectra from different geometries. * No frameworks, build steps, or dependencies. Repo and tests:…

I was at FB/Meta from late 2013 to early 2023, mostly working in the compiler/runtime spaces. I got hit in the spring 2023 layoff wave. I immediately started making games in my newfound free time (a lifelong interest, and I even worked in AA(A?) back ca. ~2000), and in October 2023 I stumbled upon the idea of a roguelike pachinko/plinko game inspired by Luck Be A Landlord. Things snowballed quickly, I started talking to publishers, then worked like crazy through all of 2024, almost the hardest I've ever worked in my career, and launched the game in December 2024. It's sold…

i wanted to change the habit of reaching for my phone in the morning and doomscrolling away an hour so i built an app to help me. now i have to literally touch grass before accessing my most distracting apps the app is built in swiftui, uses the screen time apis provided by apple and google vision to recognise grass or not i'd love to get your thoughts on the concept.
