I made a built-from scratch Wayland Compositor to display any GUI app* in the terminal! I think there is a lot of unexplored potential in custom Wayland compositors, a lot of really cool things you can embed existing applications into! So, I started with embedding apps into the terminal because that is the easiest input/output (output is just utf-8 and I use the great `chafa` library for that, and I just read from stdin for the input). If you have any other ideas for cool Wayland compositors, let me know. I purposedly wrote 80% the app in Typescript to appeal to the most developers and…

I’ve been building termcraft, a terminal-first 2D sandbox survival game in Rust. The idea is to take the classic early survival progression and adapt it to a side-on terminal format instead of a tile or pixel-art engine. Current build includes: - procedural Overworld, Nether, and End generation - mining, placement, crafting, furnaces, brewing, and boats - hostile and passive mobs - villages, dungeons, strongholds, Nether fortresses, and dragon progression This is still early alpha, but it’s already playable. Hey everyone, I have been trying to build a terminal based app for sometime now and this is an attempt at trying to build a chess app that one can play right inside terminal. I was inspired by `chess-tui`[1] which is a rust based project and was looking to build something similar using python. Luckily I stumbled upon textual[2] recently and it made my task of building this far more easier than I thought. Hi, I have created a terminal app for wordle that has web like experience. In particular, it has keyboard hints and guess reveal animations. The idea is to able to play wordle in the terminal offline (and continuously if needed). This is also kind of a Rust learning project for me, and my first public rust project. The terminal game is built with ratatui framework, which is great. I find it interesting that you can model a tui with `The Elm Architecture - TEA` principles for the terminal. Feedbacks are welcome, particularly if you are a wordle person. Have a nice day!

Hi all This has been my hobby project for quite a few years now It started as a small engine to serve as a sandbox to try out new 3d graphics ideas After adding many features through out the years and re-writing the entire engine a few times, this is the latest state It currently supports loading models with animations, textures, lights, shadow maps, normal maps, and some other goodies I've also recently added voxel raymarching as an alternative renderer, along with a fun physics simulation :)

Hi hi, I made a little Halloween themed game this week to show off my new terminal. You can play it in the browser. at https://joel.tools/halloween/ Two years ago, I started building an experiment tracking tool for myself as I have been venturing into ai research, and it has morphed into a terminal with rich content support and a bunch of fancy features. https://github.com/JoelEinbinder/snail/ I can't recommend people start using snail for important stuff today, but I think the game is fun and it shows off a lot of the capabilities of the…

We built Gonzo to make log analysis faster and friendlier in the terminal. Think of it like k9s for logs — a TUI that can ingest JSON, text, or OpenTelemetry (OTLP) logs, highlight and boil up patterns, and even run AI models locally or via API to summarize logs. We’re still iterating, so ideas and contributions are welcome!
