Products that do what Download 1000km² of NYC under CC-BY 4.0 does
Bringing the real world into virtual space for every creator has been a passion of mine for over a decade. Come on over and download as much or as little as you want. Can't wait to see what you create.

Hey HN! I wanted to share something I built over the last few weeks: isometric.nyc is a massive isometric pixel art map of NYC, built with nano banana and coding agents. I didn't write a single line of code. Of course no-code doesn't mean no-engineering. This project took a lot more manual labor than I'd hoped! I wrote a deep dive on the workflow and some thoughts about the future of AI coding and creativity: http://cannoneyed.com/projects/isometric-nyc

Google released an API in May to get fetch 3D Tiles of anywhere on Earth. Using this in standard 3D engines like Blender is tricky because (1) the tiles are in a geographic coordinate system (2) you get a lot of little tiles at varying quality levels I wanted to simplify this so all you need to do is get an API key, select a map region and a zoom level, and get one combined glTF file that you can throw into any engine. Especially if you're just prototyping and want to see how this data looks in your engine before investing in figuring out all the nuances of the API & coordinate system. (Note…

I've been working on an MMORPG that is now in alpha as a solo developer. Here are the major open source technologies that I use: Blender - 3D modeling software for creating the overall environment and every game object. I've gotten a lot of CC and Public Domain assets from https://poly.pizza GLTF - I export assets from blender to the GLTF asset format JSON - I write a JSON config for every game object that describes things like its name, its interactions, its collisions, etc. Node.js exporter - I iterate over the environment and every asset to create a scene hierarchy. I use…

3D-to-photo is an open source tool for Generative AI product photography, that uses 3D models to allow fine camera angle control in generated images. If you have 3D models created using the iOS 3D scanner you can upload them directly on to 3D-to-photo and describe the scene you want to create. For example: "on a city side walk" "near a lake, overlooking the water" Then click "generate" to get the final images. The tech stack behind 3D-to-photo: Handling 3d models on the web: @threejs Hosting the diffusion model: @replicate 3D scanning apps: shopify,Polycam3D or LumaLabsAI
