Products that do what How to Get a Fable CoT for the Jacobian Conjecture Refutation does

Since the publication of the Jacobian Conjecture refutation, many people have asked for a Chain of Thought to be published so they can better understand the mathematical intuition that leads to the counterexample. Since none was published, I tried to "clean room reverse engineer" it: give one Claude Fable the result and ask it to generate a writeup of how to arrive at it without any spoilers, then ask a second Fable to follow the write up, if it's too easy remove details, if it's too hard add hints. I could have simplified further, I stopped because it's time to sleep, and I'm sharing…

I think LLMs are overused to summarise and underused to help us read deeper. I built a system for Claude Code to browse 100 non-fiction books and find interesting connections between them. I started out with a pipeline in stages, chaining together LLM calls to build up a context of the library. I was mainly getting back the insight that I was baking into the prompts, and the results weren't particularly surprising. On a whim, I gave CC access to my debug CLI tools and found that it wiped the floor with that approach. It gave actually interesting results and required very little orchestration…

I built this project as a way to learn more about NLP by applying it to something weird and unsolved. The Voynich Manuscript is a 15th-century book written in an unknown script. No one’s been able to translate it, and many think it’s a hoax, a cipher, or a constructed language. I wasn’t trying to decode it — I just wanted to see: does it behave like a structured language? I stripped a handful of common suffix-like endings (aiin, dy, etc.) to isolate what looked like root forms. I know that’s a strong assumption — I call it out directly in the repo — but it helped clarify the clustering. From…

Creating high-quality scientific figures can be time-consuming and challenging, even though sketching ideas on paper is relatively easy. Furthermore, recreating existing figures that are not stored in formats preserving semantic information is equally complex. To tackle this problem, we introduce DeTikZify, a novel multimodal language model that automatically synthesizes scientific figures as semantics-preserving TikZ graphics programs based on sketches and existing figures. We also introduce a Monte Carlo Tree Search-based inference algorithm that enables DeTikZify to iteratively refine its…

Hey HN, I want to share a personal project: I made a tiny pen-plotted book for my wife. I did everything myself—drawings (with some help from Midjourney), plotting, cutting, and binding. I even used a 3D printer to make a helper tool. It's absolutely over-engineered, but I enjoyed it a lot. Multi-disciplinary projects, especially those with a physical output, are a lot of fun for me. The post covers the process in detail, but if you're interested in anything specific, let me know. Cheers!

I analyzed two orderings of the 64 I Ching hexagrams and found the permutation cycle decomposition between them is [52, 10, 2] with zero fixed points. Nobody has done this kind of analysis before and this cycle type has not been reported in the literature. You can verify it yourself.

Dear Hacker News, I'm kindly asking for your participation in the open beta for my AI-managed mini-games website. Thank you in advance! For a limited time window, I'm setting the all-free feature flag to true. I hope you have a lot of fun exploring the AI's sense for games! Here and there, I tweaked it to help with visual consistency. I would be deeply grateful if you opted into analytics. $2,300 in API tokens... Cheers!

If AI got lucky or not, AI is surely going to assist in solving serious math problems. If you want to spend your resources/weekends contributing, this repository is full of math problems where you can add your thoughts (or proofs - for you Good Will Hunting type people) for others to build on it and we all together can try to change the world of math. I have already extended the research with manual proof of Jacobian Conjecture that was posted on Twitter (with attribution).

I've found the most engaging way to practice techniques for AI-assisted development and test models is to build fun side projects in vanilla JS. I spent many hours playing (and studying and editing) QBasic Gorillas, and this is a vanilla JS implementation using Fable and Opus. Play 1-on-1 hotseat or against the computer. A bit of extra camera snazz as well.

Probability involves a lot of extra-mathematical concepts and funny transforms. I have always had a hard time internalizing it. When I heard a couple years ago that Lemurs are actually capable of abstract math, that gave me a bit of motivation to try to finally conceptualize probability in terms of whole numbers, counts, geometric shapes, basically easy-to-remember mathematical primitives. This book might be interesting to folks interested in predictive science, research, or just anyone who may have taken probability or statistics and might like a refresher on some of the edges of these…

Hey, ever wanted to fully understand or tweak a nostalgic game that you love? So, I’m documenting my journey on matching decompiling a retro game, step by step, using AI and self-made tools. Three chapters are done, and the fourth is in progress. Matching decompilation is a fun reverse engineering challenge that paves the way to learn more about a game and fully customize it. Let me know your thoughts about my posts and the VS Code extension that I'm developing, called Kappa! Have you ever heard of matching decompilation, by the way?

Like everyone on HN, I love nothing more than to (re)read my own comments. Getting my intuition that I am among the smartest, most humble, highest quality commenters on here confirmed by an LLM so capable that the US government had to temporarily export restrict it [0] seemed only natural. Having had my perfection confirmed, I decided to share this joy with you as I had a few percent usage left before a reset. I took a few prompts, then did a review of the output which resulted in Selbstbild, a BYOK (Anthropic / OpenRouter) web app that gives you a summary and assessment of your public…

Hey HN, I wrote a short book about the fundamental aspects of Clojure. The target audience is programmers with at least minimal experience who want to learn how to express solutions in Clojure (and perhaps in LISP, generally). If the price is a bit too steep for you, send me an email (address in bio), and I'll provide a discount coupon. If you can't afford it all, and believe the material may help you for studying or interview preparations, I can send you a free copy.

Hi HN! I’ve spent the summer of the past 2 years building The Atlas, a procedural universe simulator that generates 1 sextillion galaxies (10²¹) from a single mathematical seed. Think No Man’s Sky meets theoretical physics, but running entirely in your browser. Everything is purely deterministic, the universe is calculated from SHA-256 hashed seeds using the golden ratio as primordial constant. There’s no database, no pre-saved data, just pure math. Time itself is treated as a coordinate, so the universe exists as a 4D structure where any moment can be computed on demand. Shut it down for…

Hi everyone, I started working on nanoeuler after the ban of anthropic's fable because my ambition and dream is to work in the AI field in anthropic. The two interesting reasons that led me to create nanoeuler were the first, interfacing with llm does not mean understanding how they are composed and two, working on llm with a very low-level layer to understand the correlation between parameters and data and growth of the model and how the GPU works and how some layers can be optimized. So I started working on it with a research aspect by making nanoeuler grow more and more but doing one step…

I like the idea of taking one thing and turning it into another—very much inspired by NotebookLM and wondered what it might take to generate full graphic novels, with consistent characters, narrative flow, story arc, etc. Developed a 7-pass scripting enrichment system (beat analysis, adaptation filtering, character deep dives) before generating any images. Dual backend: Google Gemini for scripting (2M context window) and either Gemini or OpenAI for image generation with 3-tier model fallback (comparing the performance of both). It's not great. Would love feedback on the pipeline.

Hi HN! I'd love your feedback for this AI storytelling game. Remember when you used to read choose-your-own adventure books as a kid? We're trying to re-create that. The site lets you create adventures by seeding them with parameters that end up feeding LLMs: title, genre, writing style, etc. Once you've done that, you can play your book like a game: with custom chapters, illustrations, voice narration, choices, and dice rolls. We’re really into the idea of merging the open-ended generative AI with goal-directed story arcs that the game author can control. Everything is open source (links…

The project is entirely open source. It takes a single Pandoc Markdown source file and produces HTML, EPUB, PDF, man pages, GNU Info, an audiobook, an HTML-integrated audio player that highlights the content as it plays, and an MP4 output for the "video audiobook." It's generic enough to be reusable. I plan to use the pipeline for my tech blog later on. The novella contains a lot of programming lore. It's an over-the-top love letter to the old-school Linux programmer and to the craft itself. Source code: https://github.com/sebastiancarlos/hacker-fables

Hi HN, I'm Rob. Contextify indexes every Claude Code and Codex session on your machine into one local, searchable database. This is a small quality of life project i built for myself and using it for 3+ months now, decided to fork it out and publish as a skill separately. Instead of seeing terminals filled with code and tool calls, seeing a book quote felt like a breath of fresh air considering all of us are glued to it day and night. Hope the random quotes that pop up in your terminals lets you have a moment of pause or happiness every now and then while the agents keep churning out stuff for us. Please feel free to give it a spin and let me know your thoughts and feedback!
