http://goalfinch.com I had the idea for Goalfinch while reading an article here on Hacker News about economic incentives and how effective they are. It got me thinking: What if there were an easy way to set up economic incentives for the goals I have in my own life? A few months later, after working on it off and on in my spare hours, it's ready for prime time. With Goalfinch, you define a goal and make a contribution of cash that acts as an incentive for you to complete the goal. Your Facebook friends confirm whether or not you've accomplished it. If you succeed before your deadline, you…

My wife and I just launched this app because we had so much fun with a fitness challenge we did we some friends recently where everyone put in $100 and defined their goals, then only the people who met their goals split the pot. It made us realize there's really no better motivator than money. It's better on mobile screens right now as we just designed for mobile screens for now. And we did manage to put it up on both app stores - it's low in the ranks but you should be able to search it by "Goalie challenges". We built it using the leanest tech stack - Ruby on Rails, server-side HTML (no…

Simply upload a photo of your wall, upload the artwork images, position them, and download the result. It's very lightweight and nothing is uploaded to a server - everything runs directly in your browser. Why I made this: Existing apps (like Artrooms) fell short for me because they only offered stock wall images and limited 3D positioning, especially if your wall isn't perfectly frontal. I wanted something more flexible that would allow me to experiment with more scenarios, even when the photo is taken at a weird angle. The objective is to get a feel of how'd it look like, without the result…

Hi, we’re dittit.com, a startup that enables people to achieve any personal goal by automating accountability, incentives and disincentives to modify the economics of daily behavior. The way it works is you publicly declare your goal and get friends/family to sponsor you financially. You also commit to a weekly set of commitments to get to your goal. Then you submit proofs using our mobile app or any 3rd party tracking app (Runkeeper for example) which are certified by other members of the dittit community. When you miss a commitment we get your friends and family to help you out via Twitter…

Care to share a screenshot and the 'killer feature' of any of your personal, self-built productivity tools? eg. I made my own calendar and money-tracker last year - there are no other users, it makes no money, I have no plans to make it public, but it holds my life together :) http://i.imgur.com/h2keJDg.png GREAT BECAUSE... it tells me how much I'm going to get paid this month. Absolutely no ulterior motive here (ie. I'm not canvassing opinions for a productivity app startup or anything), just interested.
