24 alternatives to Realtime visualization of 3D spectrogram with THREEJS shaders

I've been working with 2D spectrograms for a while now while working with Speech recognition. It had always fascinated me how speech and words had such distinct features. Looking at spectrograms is essentially like hearing with your eyes. Over the weekend i built a tool to visualize your own audio into a spectrogram in 3D. I used threeJS with shaders and vanilla JS/Html. Play with it here : https://spectrogram-threejs.vercel.app/ I hope it brings you as much joy as it does for me.

This tool converts audio into an interactive 3D spectrogram visualization using THREE.js and WebGL shaders. Users can upload their own audio files to see frequency patterns and speech characteristics rendered as… Below are 24 products that do a similar job, ranked by how close each is in meaning and then by launch-day votes. Prices are shown for the 1 we have checked on their own sites, 1 of them free or with a free tier. Realtime visualization of 3D spectrogram with THREEJS shaders launched in 2022; newer entries below may have overtaken it.

Hey HN. I built this quick and dirty component to render audio waveforms using WebGPU. I just published it to NPM. It's the first time I use WebGPU and it's been a while since I write shaders. Feedback is very welcome! GitHub: https://github.com/mrkev/webgpu-waveform Examples: https://aykev.dev/webgpu-waveform

I've been going through Cem Yuksel's "Introduction to Computer Graphics" course and thought that writing a volume renderer would be a good way to test my knowledge. It is a common technique used to render 3D medical data. Works by ray marching a specific step size, reading a 3D texture (e.g. MRI data), and calculating opacity values. Code should be easy to get started with for anyone familiar with the JS ecosystem. Questions for the HN community: I spent 20-25% of the entire time just setting up the project and fighting issues with the JavaScript ecosystem. This experience has made me…

I’ve recently released my solo project Audiocube I wanted to make a 3D DAW, where spatial audio, physics, and virtual acoustics are all directly integrated into the engine. This makes it easy to create music in 3D, and experiment with new techniques which aren’t possible in traditional DAWs and plugins. I’d love to get any feedback on this software (Mac/Windows) to make it better. You can download it for free through the website. Thanks, Noah

I've been working on the Anukari 3D Physics Synthesizer for a little over two years now. It's one of the earliest virtual instruments to rely on the GPU for audio processing, which has been incredibly challenging and fun. In the end, predictably, the GUI for manipulating the 3D system actually ended up being a lot more work than the physics simulation. So far I am only selling it direct on my website, which seems to be working well. I hope to turn it into a sustainable business, and ideally I'd have enough revenue to hire folks to help with it. So far it's been 99% a solo project, with…

I built a free and open-source, high-resolution, real-time audio visualizer on the web. Try it out here: https://audiovisualizer.org The main feature is a very high resolution frequency domain visualizer. It even works in realtime with the microphone. The application also features a synthesizer that can be played with the keyboard or MIDI files and allows for adjustable harmonics and ADSR envelopes. I used React.JS as the framework, P5.JS for rendering the visualizations, the WebAudio API for audio analysis, Meyda.JS and Essentia.JS for feature extraction, Tone.JS for synthesis,…

Over the weekend I was discussing the latest news relating to open weights with some of my non-techie friends. After 30 mins of waffling, I realised it is quite a long and interesting story, with many twists and turns. I've always wanted to create a 'long scroll' story, but have never found a suitable story to tell. This felt like a fun weekend project to undertake. The story itself doesn't have too many scroll effects (which is probably a good thing), it was more about trying to tell a story with a certain style that wouldn't really fit on my personal blog. Would love to get your feedback…

Here's a project I've been working on for a little while now. Ripl is a JS library that provides a unified API for rendering shapes on both canvas and SVG interchangeably. Over the years I've used D3 extensively to create data visualisations so I figured I'd have a go at making my own version with a slightly more modern API and stricter TypeScript support. I am aware there are already libraries that can draw to multiple contexts interchangeably, but I've added a few little niceties to Ripl that (as far as I know) some other libraries don't have such as CSS-like query selectors, DOM-like…

Hi HN, I’ve been working on a browser-based tool for exploring and debugging Web Audio API graphs. Web Audio Studio lets you write real Web Audio API code, run it, and see the runtime graph it produces as an interactive visual representation. Instead of mentally tracking connect() calls, you can inspect the actual structure of the graph, follow signal flow, and tweak parameters while the audio is playing. It includes built-in visualizations for common node types — waveforms, filter responses, analyser time and frequency views, compressor transfer curves, waveshaper distortion, spatial…

Last April I shared about my Resonate project here (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=43694157) A lot has happened since: the work I presented in much more detail at last June's International Computer Music Conference (ICMC) got best paper award. I also gave a talk at the Audio Developer Conference in Bristol last November, the video is on YouTube). This year's work, which I recently presented at this year's ICMC, starts with known techniques from the phase vocoder literature to build self-tuning filter banks that extract very efficiently the frequency components that are…

I'm developing Hyperstep[0], a spatial language for music production. I find using existing DAWs frustrating because they don't allow me to navigate and operate intuitively on the latent spaces behind my musical ideas. This is why I've decided to build my own set of "seeing tools".(Bret Victor)[1]. I'm also convinced that by framing music as processes and interactions in the 3D world, spatialization and mixing should become fairly pain-free. I'm still early in development and I would love to build this into an actual product that can be integrated into existing DAWs or even turn it into a…
