24 alternatives to RedwoodJS

Hey everyone, I'm the original co-creator of RedwoodJS. (The framework that myself and Tom Preston-Werner, Rob Cameron and David Price built during Covid.) I had tried to build a developer tool startup (Snaplet), and failed. I rejoined the efforts to add RSC to Redwood, but I realized that we needed a much simpler framework that was closely tied to a platform (We chose Cloudflare). We started building RedwoodSDK a year ago and this is the result. An insanely simple stack. I am incredibly proud of this work, please star our repo and let me know if there's anything that doesn't resonate with…

Below are 24 products that do a similar job, ranked by how close each is in meaning and then by launch-day votes. RedwoodJS launched in 2022; newer entries below may have overtaken it.

I originally built this app to organize and reuse interesting React + Tailwind components I came across on Twitter, inspired by the shadcn/ui approach. Later, a friend started contributing their own components, and it got me thinking—this could grow into something bigger, like an NPM for design engineers to share and use components. Would love to hear your thoughts!

Hi HN! Thanks for your attention to my post. It was a big challenge to run most of Node.js packages in browser, fast moreover. Virtual File system, resolve import/export. I got cold many times, depressions, burned out, yet still alive and finished it. Many guys helped me with an advice. Many users give a lot of positive feedback. There are 200,000 monthly unique users. I work full time now because of the freemium business model. To be honest - I am happy after many years of hard work.

Many JS libraries exist to build graphs on the web (Vega, chartJS, Plotly...). They allow to make charts quickly. But you lose flexibility: you're limited by the options they offer. I just created a gallery with hundreds of graphs made with d3.js and React. - Examples are split by graph types - They all come with explanation and code sandboxes - Gradual complexity to ease the learning curve It took me ages to create this project! Feedback welcome!

Hey HN, I'm Nate, the creator of Tamagui. One is a React framework that does two things differently in hopes of simplifying how we build websites and apps: 1. It unifies React Native and React web with typed file system routing by making Vite able to serve RN. This lets you share (or diverge) your code in a simpler way for cross-platform apps. 2. We've partnered with Zero (https://zerosync.dev) to make local-first work well. We've been building a solution in One that makes Zero supporting server rendering, without waterfalls, and with seamless server/client handoff. ---…

I’ve been working with @artf (creator of GrapesJS) on Grapes Studio, an HTML-first editor with an LLM assistant on top of GrapesJS. We’re approaching this differently than the new wave of AI app/site builders which are typically generating full React applications, which we think is overkill for simple websites. From talking to people using these tools, we’ve seen a lot of issues with build errors and overly complicated pages. With our approach you can: - Edit visually via the no-code editor (drag/drop) or ask the LLM to make scoped changes (like “add a section” or “add a new…

Fir leverages Golang’s standard library html/template package and a bit of alpinejs to allow building reactive UIs. You start with plain old html and use alpinejs to enhance it to bring no-page-reload interactivity to web apps. The Fir toolkit is designed for Go developers with moderate html/css & js skills who want to progressively build reactive web apps without mastering complex web frameworks. It includes a Go library and an Alpine.js plugin. How it works ? On receiving user-interactions the fir server re-renders html templates and sends it over the wire where the fir client…

Hi! I made a React compatibility library for a Virtual DOM library (https://github.com/aidenybai/million). The idea is to have much faster rendering (a compiler optimizes virtual DOM beforehand) while ensuring the same developer experience React provides. This is very, VERY early stage, so be prepared for weird bugs / plugin incompatibility / etc. If you have any suggestions, I'd be more than happy if you replied in a comment with it! You can spin up the demo here >> https://stackblitz.com/github/aidenybai/million-react-compat

Hi HN! I'd love to seek your insights on a fullstack web framework that employs a different approach: no build. It's not a new concept. The folks as Preact mentioned it: https://preactjs.com/guide/v10/no-build-workflows/ However, in the Web Framework market, I've yet to find many that support both "no build" and "SSR". There's always some sorts of "client mount" and "server mount" and either has (or both have) to go through a build (bundling) process. With the build process, there comes additional maintenance efforts and cognitive load. I've enjoyed wrestling…

Hi HN! I created this lib in the need of a simple and tiny framework to easily do AJAX-style navigation / replacement of fragments in the page, in a web application. For people who don't want to use client-side-rendering and complex frameworks à la React, there are nowadays a few "HTML-over-the-wire" libraries, like HTMX, Unpoly or this super-tiny one Swap.js :) One other key thing is that no external tool is needed: no bundler, no webpack, no TypeScript compiler, no minification needed. Just write HTML, JS (+ your preferred server-side language: PHP, Python, etc.) and it works. The…

We're excited to announce Lowdefy V4, a full-stack web framework built on top of Next.js that simplifies building web applications, internal tools, admin panels, BI dashboards, and CRUD apps using YAML or JSON configuration files. New in V4: Next.js: Lowdefy now runs on top of the Next.js framework. All of Auth.js: App auth is now handled by Auth.js supported providers, adapters and callbacks and events, easy to configure, but all of which can be customized. Plugin extensibility: Apps can now be extended with any npm or pnpm workspace plugins. Our story: We have developed a simple…

Well, it's yet another screenshot-to-code tool. I use it daily. Of course, it sucks with complex designs, but it's still better than starting from scratch. It's a paid tool, but I've tried to be fair with the pricing at $9/month. However, I understand that times are tough. If you really want to keep using the tool and can't afford the $9, I get it. Just sign up and comment with your email, and I'll gift you three months of premium for free.
