I've been having fun making generative art for a few years and recently got the itch to write my own JS library for sketching SVGs. This library is heavily inspired by OPENRNDR [1], which to date has been my framework of choice. Here's a project I've been working on for a little while now. Ripl is a JS library that provides a unified API for rendering shapes on both canvas and SVG interchangeably. Over the years I've used D3 extensively to create data visualisations so I figured I'd have a go at making my own version with a slightly more modern API and stricter TypeScript support. Just wanted to share with HN a simple/minimal open source Python library that generates SVG files visualizing two dimensional data and distributions, in case others find it useful or interesting. I wrote it as a fun project, mostly because I found that the standard libraries in Python generated unnecessarily large SVG files. Creating high-quality scientific figures can be time-consuming and challenging, even though sketching ideas on paper is relatively easy. Furthermore, recreating existing figures that are not stored in formats preserving semantic information is equally complex.
