I've been building a bunch of US geography tools/games/visualizations and thought folks on HN might like this one. There are also drive-time and bike-time tools available on the same page. For folks interested, all of the data comes from OpenStreetMap and the US Census at the moment - OSM for routing and points interest and the US Census for population data. Backstory: Few years back, I used a shared spreadsheet (GSheets) to organize my property hunt, and found it quite frustrating to keep on top of things just on the productivity side alone. Felt that there should be a better way to do this, and that's when I started creating a webapp, with features that can make this journey feel less stressful. This is a solo dev project. This project started with me wanting to find a nice place to live with my partner. I'm a data scientist by day so I thought I'd approach it systematically. When I showed it to my friends, many said they wanted to try it too, so I made it into an app and put it online. Hi HN, https://companies.bx.tc My colleague and I put together this tool for easily searching UK company data. We run a few server side batches daily to extract data from various government sources before linking it all together in (what is now) a fairly large database. We're also using this project as a way to test out a new JS UI library we built (similar to Vue, but a bit faster) to see how it stands up in a real project. This is my first attempt at a web app to service people that I don't know. I've been living in Denver for a few years and the prices for simple airport rides are kind of crazy. In an effort to build/expand community - I built Airport Swap. It is a platform to exchange rides to/from the airport _for free_. Give a ride to get a ride! Airport Swap is was built with the intention of building (or finding) community or relying on a circle of trust to choose drivers/riders (friends of friends pretty much). Scheduling meetings across multiple time zones has always been painful for me, especially across daylight saving time transitions. I was a bit concerned when Google was sending comms about decommissioning Timeline on web. Then they did a mobile migration, and lost a bunch of user info. Started this app so I can always have a copy of my timeline on my icloud + server + device (3,2,1 rule) Hope y'all are able to find some value in it as well!
