24 alternatives to Zrok: open-source peer to peer sharing
zrok is a fun incubator project I've been working on over the last six months. The goal was to see how we could build a tool in the genre of "reverse-proxy-meets-streamlined-sharing", like a lot of the other tools that you probably know, already love, or use regularly. I've been part of the OpenZiti team for years now, and it was an obvious choice to use OpenZiti as the foundation for zrok. We already know OpenZiti inside and out, and we know how it can best be leveraged to build a tool like this so that it's secure, zero-trust, and scalable, all while still keeping it friction-free and easy…
Zrok is an open-source peer-to-peer sharing tool that functions as a reverse proxy for securely sharing private endpoints. Built on OpenZiti, it enables users to create ephemeral URLs for sharing HTTP services while… Below are 24 products that do a similar job, ranked by how close each is in meaning and then by launch-day votes. Zrok: open-source peer to peer sharing launched in 2023; newer entries below may have overtaken it.

I've been working on an MMORPG that is now in alpha as a solo developer. Here are the major open source technologies that I use: Blender - 3D modeling software for creating the overall environment and every game object. I've gotten a lot of CC and Public Domain assets from https://poly.pizza GLTF - I export assets from blender to the GLTF asset format JSON - I write a JSON config for every game object that describes things like its name, its interactions, its collisions, etc. Node.js exporter - I iterate over the environment and every asset to create a scene hierarchy. I use…

Hi! I am sharing this because it may be useful to others. I created a simple Docker image that lets you easily expose a web app running locally on your dev machine to the Internet, via a proxy server. It is a self hosted alternative to something like Ngrok, which is a paid service if you use custom domains. A small server is cheaper than Ngrok (I use Hetzner Cloud and the cheapest server costs me 3€ per month). I use this method in particular to test HTTP verification with Let's Encrypt for a SaaS app running on my Mac. Hope this is useful :) Code:…

>$ ziti – version v1.0.0 Following a few years of early adopter use, OpenZiti (Apache 2.0) graduated to 1.0 a couple weeks ago. OpenZiti enables you to spin up overlay networks, and embed them in your software. Embedding via the SDKs means your overlay network extends into the process space of your application. The network goes anywhere your software goes. What’s in the box + Overlay network endpoints, including the SDKs to integrate the overlay network endpoints into your software; customized agents for OT, IoT, edge and IT; as well as browsers, reverse proxies, modems and firewalls. +…

CRProxy is a new reverse web proxy service. We have a generous free plan that includes the ability to use custom domains and semi-custom sub-domains. We have reasonably priced plans with good bandwidth and no additional usage charges. Please give it a try and let me know what you think. Thank you, David

wsgrok▲7I built it for myself because ngrok didn't let me add one more domain unless I paid $12 more. I probably should've looked for alternatives before building my own, but my grudge got in the way . Once I started, I wanted to make it better than the other options. Silly, I know. No one probably cares. I plan to open source it sometime next year because I’ve got other projects to finish first. It's free until I deplete my cloud credits, then it will switch to a tier-based model with a free option.

I work on R00M 101, a Reddit-based OSINT profiler. While building it, I realized most open-source intelligence (OSINT) tools are scattered across GitHub, outdated blog posts, or random Discords. So I put together a public-facing directory of 100+ OSINT tools used by analysts, journalists, and security folks, free, filterable, and categorized by risk, platform, and use case. The idea was to make something useful and no-friction. Built with static HTML + SQL backend + a lot of caffeine. Would love feedback on how to improve the UX or tool curation. If anyone wants to contribute tools or help…

This is a proof of concept utility which allows you to expose local services to the internet at large: https://github.com/skx/tunneller In short it is a simple ngrok alternative, which you can self-host. Because it is a proof of concept it hasn't been tested extensively, but it seems like it will solve my immediate-needs. Of course it needs test, and structure added. But feedback can't hurt :)

I wrote this tool during an internship at Narf Industries in 2023. It's a REPL that allows for quickly developing, testing, and fuzzing for HTTP request smuggling attack payloads. I started the internship having never worked with web servers, and have now found over 100 HTTP implementation bugs. I attribute this mostly to the ease of experimentation in the Garden. REPL-oriented fuzzing is just a really good interface for finding parsing bugs. It's pretty neat to able to run a differential fuzzer, categorize and display all the discovered discrepancies, then let a human pick through them and…

Hi guys, Wanted to share a project I have been working on for a while https://github.com/holesail/holesail It is a lightweight reverse proxy similar to Ngrok but works over peer-to-peer tunnels and requires absolutely no configuration. No port forwarding, no VPNs, no servers in the middle just a direct, end-to-end encrypted connection between two peers using a simple connection key. It supports both UDP and TCP and runs on Linux, Mac, Windows, Android and iOS and has a Node API that can be used to integrate it into any Android, iOS or CLI app. The goal is to make Holesail…
