In plain words
Twitch Plays Pokemon ASCII Edition is a text-based version of the collaborative Twitch Plays Pokemon experiment. Viewers control a Pokemon game through chat commands, with gameplay displayed in ASCII characters rather than graphics. The project is designed for anyone interested in participatory gaming and real-time community interaction. It demonstrates how large groups of internet users can collectively play and progress through a game by voting on actions simultaneously.

I've posted this game here before, hopefully a repost is fine as the game has changed quite a bit (improved AI, improved mapeditor, much quicker gameplay, etc). The lobby server is made in node.js, but the game server is C++ for performance reasons (mainly the pathfinding). I found the C++ WebSocket libraries out there to be too difficult to use so I made my own based on the rfc. Overall I…

http://instantclick.io/ It seems the internet architecture won't bring us instant websites anytime soon. So here is a hack. I released this JS library last month (today is version 2.0 release, fixing v1.0's rough edges), it makes use of HTML5's pushState and preloading to make a website instant. It works like this: before clicking on a link, you'll hover over it. And there's a delay of 200-300 ms between these two events. InstantClick uses this delay to preload a page, when you click on a link it will display instantly in most case. (You can test on the website.) That's…

For a while, I had this idea of redesigning Microsoft employee badges for a modern and neat look. So I spared a few hours this weekend. It’s over a year Microsoft has started to rebrand itself, starting from its logo to a brand new looking OS, from campus shuttles to direction signs on the cam
