I made a web game inspired by Geoguessr and Wordle, where you get shown a 3D model of a random human protein each day, and you have to triangulate its gene name using similarity clues. My background is in wet lab molecular biology and I intend this game to be engaging mostly to other biologists. Wrote a program in FreeBASIC to try and find out how Genetic Algorithms work. It's a quick hack that I wrote to try some theories with because the Wikipedia Article on GAs reads like greek to me. So I built it from the general principles i knew at the time. The "genome" per individual is an array of 9000 integers but I used only monochrome pictures with either black or white; An individual also has a fitness score. My cofounder and I run a startup in oncology, where we handle cancer genomics data. It occurred to me that, thanks to a recent complexity theory result, there's a clever way to run bioinformatics algorithms using far less RAM. I built this Rust engine for running whole-genome workloads in under 100MB of RAM. Runtime is a little longer as a result - O(TlogT) instead of O(T). But it should enable whole-genome analytics on consumer-grade hardware.

When I read papers, I have to jump between multiple tabs to find the dataset, code, videos, peer reviews, and so on. I tried to fix this with this project.
