Products that do what Gpt4-o is the new game engine does

We wrote a simple script with just GPT4-o APIs to try to run a game and let it render the game actions, and it works surprisingly well.

Hello, Hacker News! My name is Lillian (see: http://about.lillian.link/), and I just released version 0.2 of my MIT-licensed game engine, Hypatia(http://lillian-lemmer.github.io/hypatia/). Hypatia is a game engine for single player 2D action adventure games. You can use it to make a game like Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons. Hypatia is aimed at non-programmers and programmers alike. I'm seeking any sort of feedback. Hypatia supports FreeBSD first, but has great support for just about any platform…

I'm making a platform for simple open source games you can play anywhere. Games are all just JavaScript classes and you can read the source of every game on the platform. I started working on initial "games" (mostly rendering tests) in 2018 and eventually built all of the platform stuff around it to make it easy to share games. There's also an in-browser editor available for you to make and publish games all from the browser. Would love some feedback on the games and studio features as well as the platform overall. All of the code is available at https://github.com/homegamesio

Hi, so i'm making a 2D game engine with its own IDE and interpreted programming language, all are written in C# It's open source, and I'm looking for contributors! The backend engine is MonoGame, the IDE is WinForms and the project is real, not just another AI-slop... Please check it out, i promise it's an unusual thing! Here's a YouTube video showing me using the engine for making a little cute game: https://youtu.be/h_AnUg4yJWs?si=MR3nQCVvOMDP3iqg Any feedback is welcome!

I've been working in the couple of months on an experiment, trying to make GPT-4 much more useful for web development / React, writing production code that is relevant to any repository without copy pasta from ChatGPT or having small snippets of auto-complete from Copilot that are not in your context. The agent is taking a user story text and generating and composing multiple react components to generate the relevant screens, based on atomic design principles, with Typescript, TailwindCSS and RadixUI. Is is still experimental but very interesting results, I would like to get your…

Hi HN, I'm one of the engine programmers at All Out Games (https://allout.game/), a multiplayer-first gaming UGC platform where creators can make and play games with their friends. For scripting we wanted our creators to be able to jump in and create game mechanics without having to think about networking. If a developer had to manually send packets to/from client/server to get things to happen then we have failed. It is particularly bad if you are using AI tools because they struggle to keep in mind what code is meant to run where (client, server, or both) and…

TL;DR: we just made GPT-5 available for free on Gensee, a developer-oriented AI Agent optimization and deployment platform: https://platform.gensee.ai/ This is a crazy week with a bunch of model releases: gpt-oss, Claude-Opus-4.1, and now today's GPT-5. It may feel impossible for agent developers to keep up, with all the manual migrating, re-testing, and analyzing. We built Gensee to solve exactly this problem. Gensee lets you see the immediate impact of a new model on your already built agents and workflows. Here’s how it works: - Instant Model Swapping: Have an agent running…

I’ve spent the last few days prototyping a browser-based game engine stack designed for instant-load, "Roblox-for-Teens" style deployment. The goal is to lower the floor for AA indie devs who want high-fidelity physics and instant web distribution without the overhead of Unity or a heavy Godot export. The Stack Engine: A headless WASM/WebGPU implementation. I’m currently using custom flags and selective streaming to bypass standard browser memory and execution limits. Physics: I’ve ported Jolt (Guerrilla Games) but modified the solver to mimic the original Blam! engine (Bungie/Halo…

Text → GPT → p5 | An app that turns your text prompt into p5js code (computer graphics) using OpenAI's GPT and displays it. Under the hood: Nextjs, React, CodeMirror, p5js I got into programming through arduino and processing. I've always thought about how to lower the barriers for people to start programming. With GPT, we can now turn plain text into code, allowing people to start coding without knowing code. OpenAI APIs don't come cheap! If you like the project, consider sponsoring access for others here: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/mattelim Cheers!

Hi everyone! I'm one of the developers behind this project. I wrote it with my two brothers, Daniel and Ricardo. For years the three of us have been curious about how multiplayer games work, which is why we decided to work on this project. Our goal was to gain a deep understanding of how different players can share the same 3D space, which is why we wrote our own tiny game engine instead of using something like Unity. We wrote the engine using C++ and OpenGL, and we then compiled it to WebAssembly using Emscripten so that it would run effortlessly on web browsers. We are really excited about…

Hi guys, For my startup at www.mithrin.ai which is about create AI Chatbot Agents for websites, I wanted to create some free tools to attract traffic to the site and decided to create specialized chatbots powered by LLMs, similar to OpenAI's Custom GPTs. I realized that by using gpt-4o-mini, I could create quite powerful alternatives to GPTs that are free to the public for a very small cost (given how cheap the model api cost is). I've employed some throttling to prevent abuse and to avoid being charged too much. Then I integrated this with my main service and allowed users to use the…

Hi HN, I’m working on an experimental 3D FPS game engine in C++20, aiming to deeply understand engine internals from first principles rather than just using existing frameworks. Currently I'm strictly following LearnOpenGL docs. This project focuses on: Entity-Component-System (ECS) architecture for high performance. OpenGL 4.1 rendering with a PBR pipeline, material system, HDR, SSAO, and shadow mapping. Modular systems: input, physics (Jolt), audio (miniaudio), assets, hot reload. A sample FPS game & debug editor built into the repo. Repo:…

It doesn’t use any libraries, not even the C standard lib! It just uses the Linux system call interface. Drawing to the screen is done by writing directly to /dev/fb0. I created this just to learn assembly - something of a lost art these days. I’m mainly a C++ developer. This has been a lot of fun and very enlightening. Hello HN! Just wanted to share a small project I've been working for the last few months. It's a tool called Runal, a text-based creative coding environment that runs in the terminal. It works similarly as processing or p5js but it does all the rendering as text. And it can either be scripted with JavaScript or used as a Go package. It's open-source and cross-platform (linux, macOS, windows). It seems to me that text/ascii-art aesthetics are really popular in creative coding communities, so I though it would make sense to create a tool that runs on a platform which can render text only.…

We have been using GPT to write code since playground days. This UI avoids logins, gpt-4 throttling and is also cheaper to use than ChatGPT Premium. We also have various features to minimize costs and speed up iteration. Furthermore html & mermaid previews are a taste of the kind of features help-yourself opensource model enables vs official UI.
