Products that do what I made an app to help plan your Weekly Runs does
Hello there, When I started training for the first marathon in my life, I download a 6 months training plan, printed it, pinned it to my fridge, and started circling each completed training day. Sadly, I would often get injured during my runs, which would lead to days or weeks without running, and a lot of changes to the plan I had printed. All running apps that I tried either forced me to follow their plan from the start (which I didn’t want to do because I was already in the middle of training) or made it extremely slow and difficult to add a custom plan. So I decided to create my own app,…

i built a heart rate zone training app for runners. ios + apple watch. custom zones, real-time haptics, post-run graphs. all the “smart” stuff you’d expect. but i never talked to a single runner before building it. not even myself lol. started as a thesis → kept building → added features → added a paywall (€4/month!) → launched it → and yeah… no one cared. zero feedback. zero users. just code in the void. i recently made the whole thing free. not trying to “sell” anything now — just seeing if it’s actually useful, and listening this time. curious how others handle this. ever build…

The idea for this came from wanting something like Naviance (let’s you see the GPA and test scores of admitted students for a given college) for marathon running. In general, we’re working on making your running data more useful, and our newest tool, called, "Marathon Cohorts," gives you stats about runners who finished a marathon in a given time. You pick a marathon time / cohort and then look at - Weekly training mileage - Fastest 5k, 10k, half marathon, and 30k during training. You can adjust the cohorts to see how these values change as the marathon time gets slower / faster.…

I've been working on a side project called Streak.ly with a friend of mine for the past month or so; it's intended to help keep you motivated to do otherwise mundane daily tasks (like do 10 pushups, read for an hour, etc.) by letting you log "streaks" — consecutive days in a row of doing something. It's in private alpha/beta/gamma/whatever right now (has some rough edges to clean up), but is more or less functionally complete and pretty stable. I'm a big fan of the Seinfeld calendar, and have seen other services which do similar things but were unsatisfying to use, either from an aesthetic…

Hi, I don't like sports but I'm overweight and my doctor leaves me no choice but to start running a little bit.I read a lot of methods for those who, like me, can't even run for more than a minute so I made this little android app to motivate me. It's only a chronometer that alternates walking and running phases and uses text to speech (so I don't have to look at my phone while running). Hope this helps https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.deliriom.runbabyrun

Howdy HN, As a small side project, I built a small app to share weekly time schedules. It's been useful for me to help schedule meeting and share semester schedules with friends. I hope some others find some use with it. I have a few more simple ideas to implement with it, and any suggestions are encouraged. Thank you!

I've just published my app and I would love to have more feedback on it. I got the idea when I was busy moving around several projects during my last semester. And I always don't know which project I should work on next. Even worse, whenever I'm busy with something, I no longer have time to "read book", "go jogging" etc. That's when I thought it would be great if there is an app that keeps track of all the tasks that you want to do and habits that you want to make. And here it is! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKVr0k9Hax0…

I just launched my first-ever mobile app. It’s called STEPRACERS, a game where you compete with friends by tracking your steps. The idea came from someone close to me who completely changed their life by focusing on their health. Every night, they’d send me their step count - a small, daily ritual that became a powerful reminder of progress. So I turned it into a game. It’s fun. It’s simple. And it might just push you to hit your 10k steps a day.

Im a triathlete and the data for my training lives in 6 apps: Garmin, Strava, WHOOP, Intervals.icu, Wahoo, Withings, Apple Health, sometimes Hevy. Every morning Id eyeball a few of them and make a call on whether to do the planned session. For the past month I have been building a thing that does this for me, and got it to the point where I use it myself every day. It OAuths into whatever platforms you connect, reconciles the activities (tbh harder than it sounds — same ride shows up in Strava, Garmin, and Wahoo with different timestamps and rounding), computes daily load and readiness, and…

Running is extremely minimal and hence supports very limited options. I am trying to understand the market from the perspective that "Should such minimal apps exists?" Kindly check it out and let me know what you think about it? Would you use it? Or I am going completely in the wrong direction. Feedbacks are welcome on usability, look and feel as well. I've just launched this little iOS app as an alternative to Apple Fitness, which is cluttered and chaotic when it comes to visualizing basic workout stats and metrics. The idea is to focus on a clean, minimalistic design and only show high-level metrics that are actually useful, e.g. how often did I work out this week/month/year, cardio vs strength vs mobility, surf session count in February, etc. It's free and offline. Also, no signup, no ads, no data sharing, no social feeds, and no notifications. Just open it and get a quick glance at the state of your workout game within 2s.…

Hi HN community, As a busy techie with kids and other family obligations and my recent health diagnosis, I wanted an efficient way to integrate workouts in my daily routine and my research indicated that HIIT/Tabata style routines fit that requirement much better than a dedicated long running/planned workout routine. I made a simple PWA to help me with that endeavor that I have found useful and hoping some of you may like it as well. No sign ups needed but you can sign in if you'd like to save custom presets and history/progress. You may also enjoy some of the fitness…

Hello HN, I wanted a simple app to track my fitness progress. Every fitness tracker in the AppStore had too many features for my liking so I made fit-stitch (Free, iOS). It allows you to take snapshots and attach a weight and date to each one. When you've made some progress you can create a before and after picture with a few taps. Hope you find it useful. www.fit-stitch.com

Hi Hacker News! I'm Jarne, a student and software developer, and I have developed MyGainplan for the last 2 years. When I started working out, I realized that it is quite hard to keep varying training plans. I know that it is recommended to change your training plan every 2–3 months in order to prevent muscular imbalance and other injuries. Besides that, some little changes help to stay motivated on a long fitness journey . After endless searching for free workouts or training plans, I had the idea of MyGainplan. The main idea of MyGainplan is to allow users to share their experience and…

Hi, I wanted to share a new iPhone app that a friend and I created called Run the World. It's a new motivational twist on the traditional running app - challenge yourself to run the distance between two cities and Run the World keeps track of your progress to meet your goal. I don't really enjoy running but I know that I should run so I'm the target audience of this app. I also wanted to get some feedback from others so that we can keep improving the app to reach more users. The app is free to download on the App Store by following this link - https://bitly.com/RunTheWorldApp…

Hi everyone, I want to share my latest creation. I have a few beta users using it, but would love more feedback. I was going through my app subscriptions and realized I was paying $15 for a pretty good workout app, which seemed a bit high to me. As a software engineer who is also well versed in claude code, I realized that I could likely vibecode a very similar app, or even build something more to my liking. I challenged my self to build something roughly equivalent this afternoon. Workflow was: start with a detailed spec from Claude code describing many of the features common in workout apps. Then paste this into lovable to have it build out the initial mvp. Once that was built, I used claude code…

I'm trying to get the motivation up to actually finish building out a "real" product, and I found myself needing a "win" to keep my momentum up. So, I hacked out a little one sentence journal app last night. I experimented with a few UI things (e.g.., the autosaving of the sentence for today and so on), so it was a good learning experience also. You can check it out at: http://osod.im

I made this app because I have such flexible schedule that I needed a tool where I can organise and structure my days efficiently. All apps I tried had title based events (you had to type manually what you want to do each time). My app is based on the premise that most people do the same activities/routines every day: So when creating an event in this app, the user can just select the from the pre-created activities/routines instead of having to type it in manually. After you download the app you get 1 day completely free testing, after that you can use the code LAUNCH for another…

Hi guys, This is my first time building something from scratch so go easy on me. I've always used to-do lists to keep me productive and stave off anxiety (not sure why they work so well for me but they do). I get kinda annoyed at the to-do list apps on the app stores because they move tasks to the bottom of the list when you tick them off. Some people may like that, but it annoys the shit out of me, because I like to feel a sense of progression as I go down through the list over the course of the day. So this was borne out of my frustration really. I also made it browser-based so it's easy…
