Hi HN, I created a (realistic) fake tweet generator to make my mum believe I'm successful until I get there for real haha. Now I can proudly (not) show her Elon endorsed my SaaS! It's 100% free to use and I tried to make it as realistic as possible while being easy to use. There are already existing similar tools but I could not find one that automatically pre-fills data from a twitter username and that handles business accounts (square picture/gold badge/company picture) so I built it. My weekend hack project was to put together a small web app for sharing links in the spirit of memepool.com. It uses a bookmarklet to let people clip interesting articles to share while reading and uses a subset of markdown to add links and blockquotes to posts. I know mentioning Michael Seibel is almost cheating, but this week he demonstrated the "leaky pipes" concept to me. Not that I know the guy, but in one of his videos he says something on the lines of "If you are unsure if you app is ready to be launched, just launch it. A buddy and I decided to hack on this little project this weekend, putting in about 12 hours. It's running Ruby on Rails, deployed to Heroku. We tried to keep things super lean with different gems handling user accounts, mailchimp for an email list and super lean styling/layout. Everything should work well enough on mobile devices, too, so give it a look!
