We are excited to announce Boards. Boards are flexible tables that help you structure and make sense of data that lives in PDFs, pictures and more. Many business users spend time extracting key information from files like invoices, contracts and other documents. Boards eliminate the need for this by focussing on 3 things: 1. Flexibility: boards can be easily tailored to suit your business. Start from a template or create a board from scratch. 2. Automating data entry: to import information into your board, simply upload files or email your board. 3. Simplifying change: when a business…

Hello, I'd like to share the first version of an app I've built for myself to categorise my expenses. Key features: - *Google Sheets Integration:* The tool is based on the spreadsheet I've been using to track my expenses over the years. I've turned it into a template that is available on the website. - *Automated Expense Categorization:* Tired of manually categorising and annoyed by the limits of rules, I've hooked the sheet up with an ML model that works based on past categorisations of your expenses. I've had great results with it. The tool is simple and basic and lets you keep using your…

Hi HN, I wanted to share an app I've created recently since it might be useful for you: guitos is a free open-source budgeting app that helps you figure out where your money went and plan your budget ahead of time. It was initially created to replace a spreadsheet I created based on the budgeting advice given on the r/personalfinance subreddits and as an opportunity to learn React. The app stores data in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB). Your private financial data doesn't leave your browser. (If you're wondering what the app's name means: "guitos" is portuguese slang for…

Hey HN, As a freelancer, I found myself spending time every month manually opening PDF and Word invoices, copying the details into a spreadsheet, and tracking payments. It was tedious and error-prone. I decided to build a simple desktop app to automate this. It's a GUI built with Python and Tkinter that points to a folder of invoices, parses the key details (invoice #, amount, date), and stores everything in a local SQLite database for tracking and analysis. It's been quite a time- and headache-saver for me. A Note on Simplicity & Caveats I'm sharing this in case it's useful to any other…
