I'm excited to announce the release of Datoviz 0.2.0, an open-source, high-performance GPU scientific visualization library built on Vulkan. It targets the interactive visualization of large 2D/3D datasets. This version includes tentative precompiled Python wheels for Linux, macOS (ARM and Intel), and Windows. This started out as a personal effort to learn more about machine learning. It's currently a CLI app where you give it a JSON file specifying your network architecture and hyperparameters and point it to your training data, then invoke it again in 'eval' mode with some data it's not seen before and it will try to classify each sample. We ported pbrt-v4 to Julia and built it into a Makie backend. Any Makie plot can now be rendered with physically-based path tracing. Julia compiles user-defined physics directly into GPU kernels, so anyone can extend the ray tracer with new materials and media - a black hole with gravitational lensing is ~200 lines of Julia. I use a ton of 3D Files as I love 3D printing in my spare time and I usually exchange them over Gmail and store them in Google Drive etc.. Google does not have a 3D Preview of files so I've built a small Google Workspace Addon that opens the file into a clean "Google like" web app that supports most files. Other solutions existed but they were full of ads and looking absolutely terrible. It got a bit of traction (around 400 users) on the store so thought I would share it here! Would love to have feedback! Each file is treated purely in the browser for maximum privacy

It's our new text-to-image model: a 9.3B single-stream diffusion transformer trained entirely from scratch. We focused heavily on controllability through structured JSON prompts, with strong text rendering, spatial awareness through bounding box guidance, and color palette control. It has the best text rendering of any open-weight model we've tested so far, and the NF4 quantized checkpoint runs on a single 24GB GPU. After repeated attempts to find an easy/quick way to view KTX files across different platforms, I gave up and built my own. Currently only KTX1 supported for 2D textures and cubemaps. I'll probably add support for KTX2 and mipmaps soon. Everything is done locally so no data leaves your browser.

I saw a tweet that tinygrad is so good that you could make a graphics library that wraps tg. So I’ve been hacking on a gtinygrad, and honestly it convinced me it could be used for legit research. The JIT + tensor model ends up being a really nice way to express light transport all in simple python, so I reimplemented some new research papers from SIGGRAPH like REstir PG and SZ and it just works. instead of complicated cpp its just a 200 LOC of python.
