I'm excited to announce the release of Datoviz 0.2.0, an open-source, high-performance GPU scientific visualization library built on Vulkan. It targets the interactive visualization of large 2D/3D datasets. This version includes tentative precompiled Python wheels for Linux, macOS (ARM and Intel), and Windows. Datoviz is a key part of the CZI-funded Vispy 2.0 project and will serve as its main GPU backend. Datoviz provides core GPU visualization capabilities while VisPy 2.0 will provide high-level plotting functionality (a bit similar to NumPy vs SciPy). What I'm looking for from the…

This started out as a personal effort to learn more about machine learning. It's currently a CLI app where you give it a JSON file specifying your network architecture and hyperparameters and point it to your training data, then invoke it again in 'eval' mode with some data it's not seen before and it will try to classify each sample. I don't see many other people using Vulkan for GPGPU, and there may be many good reasons for that, but I wanted to try something a bit different. I've made every attempt to make the code very clean and readable and I've written up the math in…

We ported pbrt-v4 to Julia and built it into a Makie backend. Any Makie plot can now be rendered with physically-based path tracing. Julia compiles user-defined physics directly into GPU kernels, so anyone can extend the ray tracer with new materials and media - a black hole with gravitational lensing is ~200 lines of Julia. Runs on AMD, NVIDIA, and CPU via KernelAbstractions.jl, with Metal coming soon. Demo scenes: github.com/SimonDanisch/RayDemo

Svader is a library for rendering 2D shaders on Svelte websites, using either WebGL or WebGPU. It's streamlined for the specific use case of rendering 2D graphics using fragment shaders as an alternative to SVG or the JS canvas API, so it's not meant for doing 3D objects like three.js, for example. This started as something I needed for my own project, but I eventually decided to split it into a separate library. I've since found that this use case fits really well into the Svelte compiler-based approach and its fine-grained reactivity system. In general, I think using shaders like these has…

Hello internet folks! I'm happy to share the first TestFlight release of Glyph3D, a 3D text visualizer for macOS and iOS. It's free, supports pretty much any utf8 data, and is a pretty interesting way to navigate your repositories or data directories without the limitations of standard text windows! Download and bookmark for macOS and iOS: https://github.com/tikimcfee/LookAtThat/ - You should be able to download public repos from GitHub and render them. - Play with opening and closing windows. I've disabled many of the in-flight features to keep user confusion down,…

It's our new text-to-image model: a 9.3B single-stream diffusion transformer trained entirely from scratch. We focused heavily on controllability through structured JSON prompts, with strong text rendering, spatial awareness through bounding box guidance, and color palette control. It has the best text rendering of any open-weight model we've tested so far, and the NF4 quantized checkpoint runs on a single 24GB GPU. For more technical details and examples see our blog post: https://ideogram.ai/blog/ideogram-4.0/ We will be happy to answer any questions :)
