Products that do what With BOFA at 0.01%, I made levels.fyi for high yield savings accounts does
I was with BOFA and Chase Private Client for years before I realized that they were making tons of interest off my money and just keeping it for themselves. The funny thing is that since I had a lot of money with them they raised my rate as a thank you to wait for it 0.02% instead of 0.01% lol. Got upset because of this and made this site. It scrapes all the banks every 30 minutes so it is the most real time source of APY data on the internet. Rates are now over 3% at the high end so it makes sense to park your money in these places rather than the big three banks.

Quick background: I used to code. Studied it in school, wrote some projects, but eventually convinced myself I wasn't cut out for it. Too slow, too many bugs, imposter syndrome — the usual story. So I pivoted, ended up as an investment associate at an early-stage angel fund, and haven't written real code in years. Fast forward to now. I'm a Buffett nerd — big believer in compound interest as a mental model for life. I run compound interest calculations constantly. Not because I need to, but because watching numbers grow over 30-40 years keeps me patient when markets get wild. It's basically…

Hey all My name is Adam, and I’m a co-founder at Yotta (YC S20), an app that uses behavioral psychology to help people save money by making saving exciting. We built a feature on Yotta where you can earn 9.62% APY via US Treasury I Bonds. (https://www.withyotta.com/i-bonds) This is an absurd yield for a security that is backed by the full faith and credit of the United States Government - the strongest guarantee you can get. For comparison, most high-yield savings accounts with FDIC coverage are paying ~2%. The backstory: I Bonds were established by the US Treasury in 1998 to…

For years, I have struggled to understand my cash flow and save for the future. In addition to that, my wife has many credit cards and accounts that complicate matters. I am building a tool that connects all our accounts, helps us create a budget, and tracks and adjusts expenses on the fly. I am also sprinkling some AI magic on it for financial suggestions. I am looking for feedback on the implementation. More importantly, I am looking for more beta testers to improve the product.

It’s pretty simple: ask us absolutely anything about your finances (it’s okay to be really specific to your situation!) and our algorithm backed by a Certified Financial Planner will give you a hyper-personalized spot-on answer, for free. Go ahead and stump us! Let’s really kick the tires on this thing :) Up until now, we've been doing comprehensive financial advising for free. Our most popular feature is the ability to just ask us anything so we figured why not make that feature available for everyone? Also for free :) Some more context: Uprise’s mission is to make wealth…

Hey HN, I started my career as a finance manager, transitioned into product management, and now I’m building my own products. Back in my finance days, while managing a £6M budget, I uncovered a £15k leak hiding in plain sight: FX fees. Today, I see solo founders making the exact same mistake. I realised most founders are quietly losing 2-5% of their revenue to what I call the Lazy Tax: - Stripe's ~2% auto-conversion fee on inbound revenue, - plus their local bank's ~3% spread when paying for global SaaS tools (AWS, Claude, Ads). So I built FixMyFX to show founders their exact leak and how to…

Hey everyone. I'm a founder of a Boston based, venture backed startup, unrelated this this link. One of my business partners and I coded this website DURING long and painful meetings with our attorneys as a way to pass the time. We racked up over $100k in legal bills through a couple fundraising and legal hurdles. This is the website that resulted from that time.<p>We'd love your feedback for version 2.0. Thanks!

I was a software engineer at a late stage startup and was caught in a layoff this January. When I looked into exercising my options or getting liquidity, I realized the secondary market is a total black box. Liquidity funds spend a fortune on Google Ads just to find people like us. Those high marketing costs eventually come out of our pockets in the form of higher fees and worse terms. I built StrikeRates to change that. The site is meant to be a central resource for anyone navigating this. I included a Liquidity 101 section that explains the different financial vehicles because that…

When I see what some HN members have done in a weekend on their projects, it makes it hard to confess that it has taken us 1 year to get to this stage. I kept trying to make things perfect, but finally I have seen the light - it will never be perfect and even in its current state, I see so much we need to improve, but it's something. Instead of delaying even more, I thought I would release it to the best critics out there - HN say hello to MyProperty.com Hope to hear your feedback, criticism, thoughts.

Hey HN, I've just begun my solopreneur journey. I've been a "serial starter" - often starting projects and never seeing them through, and I have finally finished my first project! Maybe this sentiment resonants with some of you, let me know in the comments below I built this tool as a simple no-risk method for turning more visitors into customers by A/B testing your sale promotions and automatically displaying the promotion with the highest conversion rate. Did you know that increasing your conversion rate by just half a percent can have a dramatic impact on your sales without needing…

Threw this together pretty quick because I kept seeing different takes on the new tax bill everywhere. Some sources saying it's bad for lower/middle class, others saying everyone saves money - figured I'd just build something to visualize it instead of trying to figure out who's right. Used Cursor to help build the website and make it interactive so you can plug in your own info. Hosted using Cloudflare pages. This definitely isn't perfect and you shouldn't use it for actual tax planning or anything serious. I'm not a tax expert, just someone who wanted to see the numbers laid out…

I'm Canadian, live abroad, and my money is scattered across two countries, multiple currencies, banks, brokerages, real estate, and some private equity. No app could hold all of it, and none could answer a simple question like "what's my actual USD exposure?" Brisa pulls everything together (Plaid + manual accounts + real estate + PE, all multi-currency) and puts an AI on top that has my full financial picture in context. Instead of clicking through charts, I can just ask. Would appreciate any feedback!

During my fundraise, I had 6 Calendly links I was managing actively. My goals were: 1. Investors should always find links comfortable to their timezone 2. They should not see full day slots thinking I am free throughout the day ( wrong sign ) 3. So I had to manage multiple calendly for every timezone and opening slots - when one close. I really wished someone would have given me power to add all these things just as agent instructions for AI to decide - and we did it now. buxo.ai for everyone.

Hey. I built a loan (mortgage) calculator that lets you compare the savings from overpaying your loan with the potential profits from investing those extra funds. It will help you answer a key question: is it smarter to overpay your mortgage or invest the extra money? See the hard data and make smarter financial choices! The comparison is simple: 1. Both the overpayer and the investor have the same mortgage. 2. They both spend the same amount monthly. 3. The overpayer overpays the mortgage installments. 4. The investor puts that extra money into investments. Who comes out ahead after the…

Hello - I’m the founder of Frec. We built a direct indexing product that lets you tax loss harvest the S&P 500 or the S&P Information Technology indexes for a low 0.10% fee and a minimum deposit of $20k. You can start your direct index with cash or contribute stock you already have. Our historical simulations based on 20-years of data show that we harvest ~40% of every deposit back in capital losses over a period of 5 years. I linked to a live demo account with a real $50k deposit made on Dec 5, 2023. The account shows that our trades track the S&P very closely. As of January 21, our direct…
