Products that do what Quasicrystals Animation Playground with WebXR does

Hi! This is my little project introducing quasicrystals animations with some parameters. It uses a custom shader to allow higher resolution. Not all combinations look equally good. For example the "Spectrum" color palette IMO makes sense only for low values of "Tempo" and "Pattern Density". If you have VR googles, I recommend trying the WebXR version - it's really nice.

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…

This was my recent weekend project, aimed at teaching me JavaScript, a bit of HTML5, and (mostly) WebGL. The orbital data are from NASA JPL. I was inspired in part by this Flash app: http://www.dynamicdiagrams.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/orrery_2011_bce.swf, but wanted to do something in 3D. Coming from the games-dev world, this is my first introduction to web coding. The UI is jquery. I mostly used http://learningwebgl.com/blog for the 3D stuff. Being WebGL, it will work mostly on Chrome, Firefox 4 Beta. Forget about IE. I needed to figure out how to render text to the WebGL canvas - I…

GitHub: https://github.com/Sportinger/MasterSelects I built this Browser-based video compositor with a GPU-first architecture. No Canvas 2D in the rendering path — video textures go in as texture_external (zero-copy), compositing runs through a ping-pong WGSL shader pipeline, and export captures frames directly from the GPU canvas via WebCodecs. 39 GPU effects, 37 blend modes, nested compositions, keyframe animation with bezier curves, vector masks, 10-band live EQ, video scopes, and AI-driven editing via GPT function calling. 13 production dependencies. The compositor,…

I've been working on a CSS Sprite generator for a couple of weeks in my spare time. It uses HTML Canvas and JavaScript FileReader to open local images without any zipping or uploads, and tries to make the CSS generation as easy as possible. I made it because it is a tool that I wanted to have, and I am hoping to get some feedback from others now that it is functional. http://instantsprite.com

Hey everyone, my friend and I created a GitHub Wrapped video for developers to showcase their activity on the platform in a more fun way. The implementation is open-source (https://github.com/rendleyhq/github-wrapped-2024) if you're interested in how it was built. To get a bit geeky, we used masks, keyframe animations, luma key shaders to remove the background from the confetti video, and some other techniques. Also, everything is rendered directly in the browser!! I'm curious to hear your thoughts on the rendering performance, especially if you're running this on your…

process demo - https://i.redd.it/fbhlwsq1gcmg1.gif render demo - https://i.redd.it/smddwtryhcmg1.gif I love making creative software. I spent a few years making pixel art software but recently have gotten into 3d animation and 2d animation and really wanted a way to realize crazy ideas. Blockbench didn't feel quite right, spline is super well made but felt catered too much to just idle website animations, and I really didn't want to fall down a master class in Blender just to make some silly stuff. While I'm definitely not discounting Blender's literal…

I’ve spent the last few days prototyping a browser-based game engine stack designed for instant-load, "Roblox-for-Teens" style deployment. The goal is to lower the floor for AA indie devs who want high-fidelity physics and instant web distribution without the overhead of Unity or a heavy Godot export. The Stack Engine: A headless WASM/WebGPU implementation. I’m currently using custom flags and selective streaming to bypass standard browser memory and execution limits. Physics: I’ve ported Jolt (Guerrilla Games) but modified the solver to mimic the original Blam! engine (Bungie/Halo…

Hi HN! I built a free pixel art editor that runs entirely in the browser — no install, no signup, no watermark. The frontend is open source (MIT): https://github.com/comficker/simplepixelart What it does: - Sprite editor with layers, selections, mirror drawing, and an infinite-canvas workspace (multiple boards on one desk) - Frame-by-frame animation with onion skin, per-frame duration, GIF and spritesheet export - Tileset builder that auto-generates Wang-16 and blob-47 terrain sets from a single base tile — exports Godot 4 TileSet, Tiled .tsx, or PNG+JSON — plus a tilemap…

Hello, I've created a CSS-library called sunset.css. If offers a collection of (hopefully) useful CSS-powered hover-animations and also some animations that react to clicks instead. It's my first open-source project so I try to make everything right: * I created a npm-project so it is available on npmjs and CDNs * I created a public github-repository with a wiki for documentation * I created a landing page to show off the animations I'd love to here some feedback about all of this! :) Here are the links: https://github.com/philippwilhelm/sunset.css…

Hey HN, I've been wanting to start this project for a long time, ever since I read an article about collaborative transformation of blob images[1], and I'm hoping it will take off here as I'm curious to see how it can grow. Here's how it works: - My website is available at https://chaospixels.com. You can find its code in the `src` directory of the linked repository. - Every day, I'll review all the open PRs (Pull Requests) and calculate a PR score based on the number of thumbs-up on the PR's opening comment. - The PR with the highest score will be merged and deployed. - Afterward,…
